Start and End of the School Day Arrangements

Morning: 8.50 am to 12.00 pm
Afternoon: 1.00 pm to 3.15 pm.

Children should arrive at 8.45am when the gates will be unlocked. At 8.50am the bell will ring and the children will line up in the playground. Your child's teacher will then take them into school. if you need to speak to the class teacher in the morning, please can you ring to make an appointment. For security reasons, the playground gate will be shut at 9.00am and children arriving after this time should enter through the main office door.

During the mid-morning break the children are supervised by staff. The school does not have a ‘tuck shop’ but Key Stage 2 children are encouraged to bring in fruit. Children in the Early Years Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 receive a piece of fruit daily, supplied and paid for by a Government initiative. In the event of bad weather at playtime the children remain in their classroom and again are supervised. An assortment of board games, jigsaws and toys is available at this time. Milk is provided to those who have booked it in advance.

At the end of school, children will come out into the playground and in the interests of safety, we ask you to come into the playground to meet your children there. Children in Year R, 1 and 2 will only be let out of the classroom when a parent or known adult is seen to be in the playground. The KS2 children are told that they must wait inside the school gate until they are collected, unless alternative arrangements have been made. If someone does not arrive then they must come back into school and tell a member of staff. If your child is walking home by themselves, please could inform us in writing giving your consent. Usually this would be only older pupils.

If children are absent from School for any reason, please do call the office and let us know as we are obliged to keep records. If your child is not taking part in PE or swimming, then a note to the form teacher should be provided.

If collection arrangements for your child are going to be different from usual, please speak to your child’s class teacher or telephone the school office on 01858 462319.
